Can you believe that summer is already coming to an end? I am amazed by how quickly the past few months flew by! I taught summer school for five weeks and was lucky enough to be able to squeeze in a little beach vacation at the beginning and end of summer. As soon as I finish this post I am headed to the beach to spend one last day in the sun before heading back to work tomorrow!
Since many of you have already started school and some of you, like me, will be heading back this week, I wanted to share a few of the projects that I worked on this summer and give you some freebies to make the beginning of the school year a little bit easier!

Freebie #1: Small Group Planning Template
For summer school this year I did reading intervention with four groups a day. I created the planning template below to keep myself organized and to match the adorable bins that I bought at Michael's.

Freebie #2: Vocabulary Posters
I created these three posters to hang on or near my vocabulary bulletin board & you can just right click, save, and print them if you want to use them in your room as well!
Freebie #3: Building a Reading Life Posters
This year my county is adopting the Units of Study for Teaching Reading by Lucy Calkins and Kathleen Tolan. We've been using their Writing Units of Study for two years now and I absolutely love them! I know the plans take a bit longer to read than an ordinary textbook would, but there's something about the introduction where they share the importance of each lesson and their own experiences that I find so motivating and easy to connect with.
Anyway, I decided to get a head start on planning out our first unit for reading and I wanted to share some of the posters that I created to decorate my classroom!
